   I am no expert at this but I did see zippers that have the ability to curve based on the zipper tape. I will look for that, I think Threads has an article I read in the past on this.

   contoured zipper

   When you say "contoured" are you referring to a seam that curves from left to right or one that curves perhaps over a dowager's hump? Is it a dress? a top? a skirt?

   If you're talking about a contour moving predominantly left and right, it would probably be best to move the zipper to another seam that's more straight--perhaps a side seam. Threads actually did an article about how to move a zipper from the back to the side. Let me know if you want me to find it for you.

   If it's a different kind of seam, please explain in more detail.

   zippers in contoured seams

   I've done this recently using an invisible zipper and it worked well, but the seam allowance needs to be clipped afterwards to make it lie flat, particularly in the waist area.  If the garment isn't lined and you want to tidy up the look of the seam allowance, you can fasten a strip of bias over it if you wish.  The tutorials mentioned below are excellent, but I think they're  talking about a different kind of problem

   Mesh zippers...

   I have recently been watching Sarah Veblen's Sewing drapey and slippery fabrics hosted by Pattern review and she mentions the use of mesh zips which are much lighter. Here is one site you might try http://www.zippershipper.com/2-mesh-sheer-tape-ultra-light-weight-invisible-closed-end-zipper
