Sewing lessons in the Puget Sound (Wash.) region?

Pfaffmaus | Posted in Teach Yourself To Sew on

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for sewing lessons in the greater Puget Sound region of Washington State. So far, I’ve only been able to find one- or two-session, project-focused classes, like the kinds where you make an apron or pajama pants. While I can appreciate these kinds of classes, what I’m really interested in is a longer series of linked sessions that progressively build on sewing and construction skills through a variety of garment projects–from the basics (like seams and pattern-reading) to intermediate/advanced skills (like pattern making and professional finishing techniques). I’d like to immerse myself for the long haul and not just a weekend. Any recommendations?

Thanks so much–and happy sewing!

Pfaffmaus, try the communtiy colleges in the area.  Seattle Central Community College has an apparrel design class.  Also the Lake Washington Technical College offers sewing classes, including pattern making.

      Hi, marymary:

Thanks *so* much for the tips--I'll definitely check them both out!

      Happy holidays to you!
