Having not attempted shirring before; I want to shirr the back of a summer top.  Should I shirr and stop short of the side seams; and then sew the seams?  I am hesitant to sew over the shirring; when making a seam; as i dont want to 'break' the elastic thread.. Hope all this is 'shirrly clear'  :-)  and thanks for any help
