    Sewing Neoprene

    I found this article - http://www.rockywoods.com/Fabric-Information-Help/App-Notes/Sewing-Neoprene-Fabrics

What I would do, would be to purchase water proof seam tape and thread from Sailrite and use a Titanium coated sewing machine needle.  You may also have to use a walking foot.

I have used both the WP seam tape from Sailrite and the Titanium coated needles for sailboat accessories.

I found the needles at many online sites, but prefer Organ brand.  You can also find Singer brand with Singer sewing machine notions.

Not many people know about this type of needle.  I discovered them a few years ago when I was doing a lot of machine embroidery using sticky back stabilizer or temp spray adhesive for fabric.

The Titanium coating helps to strengthen the needle, but also helps to keep it cool so it does not soften the adhesives, which can gum up the thread and generally make sewing next to impossible.  This is easier than using thread lubricant such as Sewer's Aid.

If you need to ask a sewing machine dealer, make sure you express Titanium coated and not Titanium steel (they just cannot keep up with new products).

    Neoprene

Thanks so much for your information.  I also have another question...I need to take out the hem in order to take in the seams.  Is this going to be a problem?

I do have Organ titianium needles.  The original seams were flatlocked.
