Kenmore 6

OutsideLookingIn | Posted in Teach Yourself To Sew on

Help.  I am an old geezer in a wheelchair with skinny legs.  I have to sew my britches up in the legs so they fit.  I bought a Kenmore 6 from my neighbor lady and don’t have a clue how to get the bobbin thread to hook up with the needle thread.  Could someone direct me to a blog or help.  I have read and tried the manual…and have even tried youtube.com…but can not get the bobbin properly threaded to get the stiches to work.

I am not a wierdo….well..I am a weirdo..but not that kind.

Thank you.

Is this a drop in bobbin or is the bobbin in a case.? In both cases you have to draw the thread into a slit  so the thread is in the right position for the needle to pick it up.

I'm also a wierdo.  My first thought was that the wheelchair had skinny legs!  If you could check around for sewing groups, fabric stores, sewing machine stores, tailors or people who do alterations, I'm sure they could point you to someone who would be happy to go to your home and show you how it's done.  (I'm currently looking for someone to show me how to wind and install the bobbin in a treadle machine.)
