Most pajamas can be pretty easy. Or an apron or a pillow case. There are patterns marked "easy" that usually have few pieces and will not be too fitted. A simple skirt with elastic waist isn't difficult either. Be sure to read the pattern through from start to finish so you get the whole idea. And hang in there. There is nothing quite as satisfying as saying "Yes, I made it myself!"
Starting out... (post #33541, reply #2 of 6)
Hi there!
Know I'm about 2 mos. late...have been out of town... As previously mentioned...the apron or skirt is a great beginner's project.
Get a sturdy fabric...and look at the weft and warp threads and make sure you are using those pattern arrows on the straight of the
grain...It's always good to prewash fabric...shrink it...Practice sewing on paper...circles and horizontal lines.. Do something that you're happy with and successful...so ur mot ivated to continue...Get simple fabric..no nap, small checks, etc.
Good Luck!

Have you looked at the "very easy" Vogue patterns? Instructions are good and designs choosen foe ease of sewing and less fitting issues.

also don't get discouraged when you start sewing, take your time & enjoy making your project.
also if you sew for awhile, get up & take a break

I'm new to the forum, & I put my other post on the wrong person's name(sorry)
lounge pants with a elestic waist are nice, & so would a pillow case be, good luck with what ever you start.

my hint: what r u willing to wear/use? (post #33541, reply #6 of 6)
only make it if you want to use it. Some friends have taken sewing courses where they make stuff they don't want.
anyways, out of the category that you are willing to use, choose a pattern under an easy section that is similar to what you want.
Usually simplicity is the most beautiful of all items. Be happy and have fun. I know my post is late.
