   May be if it is okay, its okay and nobody want to place judgement or be too opinionated because somebody might appreciate networking.   I am a credit web-course student, and some people place their own business ads into their intro student profiles,so thats kinda similar to this.

   Everything has it's place

   IMHO, I also work in the technology field.... not a student, but in the real world for one of the largest telecommunications firms in the world.  I've got now close to 30 years in the business.  The first principle of good marketing is to target your ads appropriately.  The likelihood of picking up a customer or a click through from a group of people who are offended by your content is remote.  Guerilla marketing has its place and so does networking-- I'd urge them to find the right place for their posts.

   This forum has always been about supporting those of us who are excited about sewing.  It has not historically been a place for ads and other commercial communications.  There are places on this site for ads, and if they believe that the Threads customer/Gatherings is the right place for their postings,  I urge those who are supposed to be monitoring this site to quickly migrate these posts to the paid ad content and to reiterate the guidelines for participating in Gatherings.

   Maybe they could hire a student or create an internship to monitor postings and content so they don't further alienate their core customer base.

   Hardly

   I respectfully disagree with your premise.   In my most humble opinion, it is stealing bandwidth to place these type of advertisements on a free website.  And may I also comment on the mindset?  Why would those of us who love to sew and all the creative aspects of this endeavor want to buy cheap knockoffs?

   I always enjoy seeing what others are working on and Reader's Closet is always my first stop on Threads.  I went there today and those ads are dominating the site.  It's no fun anymore to sort through the advertisements and try to find the few sewn items so I don't think I'll bother with it anymore.  I agree that the ads should not be there - there are places for paid advertising and they should not be allowed to get away with it.  It seems that I'm feeling the same as some of the rest of you - there's no one here who cares anymore.  Maybe it's a subtle ploy to kill the site.

   Am I on the same website - I don't see any reference to a Reader's Closet.  I didn't even know it existed.  And I have looked all over the site for it and still don't see it.

   https://www.threadsmagazine.com/  If you click on the Threads heading at the top of the message board, it will take you to the main page of Threads Magazine.  About halfway down the right hand side is the Reader's Closet.  Right now all the pictures are ads.  It's very sad that no one seems to be monitoring either this message board or the magazine website.  I hope this doesn't mean that the magazine is going under.

   We are well aware of the spamming problem reaching across all of our websites at the moment. It is unfortunate that people do not respect our community and spend their time adding this spam to the website. We do appreciate you alerting us to anything you see that might be inappropriate for the website and forum, but I do make an effort to remove any unwanted content each day. It is sometimes difficult to keep up with, as this is a manual process, and I have many other duties. Spamming is not tolerated and we are making every effort to keep this inappropriate content off of our website so that the community can enjoy our Reader's Closet as intended.
