Antique textile art-Jamavar

harley | Posted in Talk With Us on

I took an elaborately patterned fabric piece my mother had given me to a textile expert today for an historical/fiber evaluation. She said she had no idea what it was, but that it was probably Indian or Pakistani.   I did a little bit of research on it online when I got home and I think it is a jamavar from Kashmir.  I’m looking for someone in Maryland who can help me with it, what it really is, history and fiber content.

Check the Textile Museum in DC for when they have days you can bring your things in for expert appraisals.
