wedding dress quilt

Sooze's picture

Over a year ago I asked for ideas on making a quilt from my daughters wedding dress. All of you gave such good ideas. This is a picture of the quilt. My daughter picked out the pattern. All parts are from her gown except the purple, it is from my dress. The buttons were on the back of her dress and the hankie which was given to her by her husband's grandmother, was in her bouquet of flowers. I mimicked her dress with the ribbons and bow that was at her waist with bead work on bodice. I hope she likes it. I also put their names and date of wedding on it and signed and dated it by machine.

That is so very innovative and beautiful, great job.  What a wonderful reward.

I'm sure she will love it. The ribbons look lovely and do evoke the way they would drape from the waist of the gown. Incorporating the handkerchief is a wonderfully sentimental gesture, too. What a sweet act of love to create such a treasure.

What a lovely idea.  So much better than having it sit in a cupboard unseen for years.  I still have mine in the attic somewhere.   I love this message board.  I wish I knew about it before (only joined about a month ago, and there are so many great hints and ideas.

What a wonderful and lovely keepsake! Thank you for sharing. I was not a member a year ago, but it is lovely to see that after all this time you have finished your project and came back to show it off. Cathy

Lovely!  Thank you so much for posting a photo of it; you have inspired me!  Making something that will allow your daughter to enjoy and remember her wedding is so much better than storing it away.

We're about to repaint a room under whose waterbed I've stored my wedding gown--if it's in good shape, I will definitely consider re-using the fabric, perhaps for a throw, if my dd doesn't want to re-use the fabric for her own gown.

Congratulations on your beautiful project!
