turkey work

Nancy_McKenzie's picture

I have seen a type of quilting where there is no batting. The top is worked with folded pieces of cloth that are sewn to a backing in such a way that the cloth pieces each cover the last line of stitches. Log cabin would be one of the designs used. The quilt is 3 or more layers thick (because of the folded pieces)and doesn't require a batting. It was called turkey work, but I'm not sure if that's a generic name. Where can I find out more about this?
