Quilting Machine

Hoteimama | Posted in Quilting and Home Decor on

Hi All,  I am in the market for a home quilting machine, something like a Handiquilter, or a Grace Quilting system-the kind that holds a sewing machine so that one can move the machine around, instead of the quilt itself. Any recommendations as to brands? Quality? Is there a discussion group on this topic anywhere? TIA, Tomi

There are tons of discussions groups at yahoogroups.com

If you go to [email protected], you can get lots of information and can chat with owners and prospective owners. There is a wealth of info there.

I own a Handiquilter with their professional frame. I use it on two end to end banquet tables. It's a great machine and is available with a stitch regulator so even beginners can get fantastic results.

I see the original question was posted in November but if still interested..another Yahoo group where machines and frames are compared is the Pfaff Hobby Grand Quilter and other quilting machines. I believe the site also has a chart showing differences in the machines and there is much discussion on frames, threads and accessories along with pictures of some of the quilts and other work members of the site have done.

Thank you, Kiley. At this point, I have been having a pretty good time just quilting with my Bernina 180, using the slide-on table that came with it. I've found that my larger acrylic table was catching too much, leading to frustration! So for the time being, I decided to spring for a Koala cabinet with a large flat area, instead of a whole separate quilting set up. We'll see how that works...friends have been very satisfied with theirs. I will keep you posted.
