   You can buy special tape and the hooks that are needed so go and have a look in a a large curtain fabric shop.

   I learned how from the Singer Sewing book (I think the title is sewing for the home), and have made them many times successfully.  If you want your drapes to look "custom" be sure they are 2-1/2 times as wide as your window or 2 times if they are on rings and hang down between the rings.

   Thank you for the lead on a sewing book that has info on cartridge pleats.  Also appreciate the tips you had for making them look professional.

   An excellent source for making drapes is a book called "Drapes and Valances" published by Sunset Books (I bought mine at Home Depot).  It will walk you through every step of the project for a truely professional job.  I've used this book many times to make some wonderful treatments.

   if you need good sources for drapery notions, Atlanta Thread and Supply has great options, as well as Sew True in NYC. they are both online. very inexpensive too!
