   Happy Monday, msm-s!

   Here's a couple of pages I found when I Googled "button tufting pattern". (Not the first one - that's a patent application, and chock full of legalese!)

   Great general instructions, but the site is hard to navigate - no consistency of access.

   Thanks! It's so frustrating to search and only find items for sale, or blogs with no instructions.
   Actually, I'm recovering the backs of 2 booths that were in a local bar. I'm having the kitchen redone and they will be the breakfast nook.

   Just checked the sites- they are great, but actually don't use the same approach I need to. the first is simple tufting, no diamonds, and the second is one I did see before, and it is by far the best one I've seen. but the Diamonds are created by tucking the excess under, which would be unsuitable for the kitchen with spilled food (I've got a young boy at home!).By the appearance of the original (but sadly, too worn out) covering, I'm going to need to piece together diamond shaped sections to get the puffed diamond shapes without the hidden pockets. I was hoping to find a pattern for that, but the guidelines in the links you provided, telling how much allowance to add based on thickness of foam, will help me draft my own.

   I see what you mean!

   Do you have the holes in the foam already? Perhaps you could use the tucked version to locate your seams? You might not have to cut-and-piece the whole thing, just sew the tucks together and trim (or not) the excess after its sewed.

   Just thinking out loud - good luck! Another possible way to acquire instructions is write to HGTV.com sites - they have lots of programs that might be interested/able to help? Kharmin
