    Hello,

I hope it warms up for you soon.  I make bedskirts often in my business (I make soft furnishings for interior designers) and I can make some recommendations that I hope will be helpful.  If you have the kind of bed with siderails, you can make a separate frill for each side and the foot that velcro onto the inside of the rail. I have made them both coming from under the rail and coming up and over the rail. If the box spring on the bed shows, simply make a box spring cover in the same fabric for a harmonious look.  Most bedskirts seldom need washing and hang better overall if they are made so that they cover the entire box spring and fall from there, so I recommend that for a more satisfactory look.  If you do velcro the skirt, I would make a tightly fitting box spring cover with velcro on the deck area (horizontal between mattress and box spring) and not on the vertical side.  This way the skirt can "waterfall" over the side. I hope this helps and good luck with your project.

goodmorning its still raining):thank you for the advise re:above. we awaiting delivery of the bed & its a 4 draw box spring base. The frill/valance that I made before is the fitted sheet type with frill, so that it lays flat then falls into gathers. It just puzzled me a bit re: attaching velcro to the actual bedbase, unless it was self adhesive so that it attached to the actual base.then attach the frill.but I think that it would not give such a nice finish to the look of the bed.Ah well will wait & see when the bed arrives.hopefully this week. Then I can play about with ideas. Many thanks for your help.June ps Happy 4th July to everyone.

You could attach velcro to the box xspring itself if you are worried about ruining the finish of the bed frame.  When I slipcovered the couch (the lazy way) I sewed the "hook" side to the couch frame using one of those curved upholstry repair needles and the loop side went on the fabric (and thankfully I could use the sewing machine!)  That way we can just rip it off and throw it in the wash, and put it back on without taking the whole couch apart.
