Bangkok here I come!

jnct14 | Posted in Quilting and Home Decor on

OK all you sewers – can we talk marathon sewing? This past week I had about 10 teenagers at the house, I was reading the latest Stephen King book (I am such a fan), working on my sister’s quilt and made two capes and two hats out of polar fleece for a couple of my friends at work. They LOVED the capes!!! Easy to make and fun to embellish. Oh and thank you Threads – I got the hat pattern from a back issue featuring a leather hat with vintage fur trim. Too cool!

And aside from all of these ramblings, I found out that I might have to go to BANGKOK for a business trip – can we talk fun shopping for fabric????

What is everyone else doing?

Do you have pics of the capes?  Love to see them.

I do need to take pictures. However - the stomach flu hit everyone in my house this past week so things have been NUTS - and I have to go to France on Saturday (business unfortunately) for a week so when I catch my breath, I will definitely post pictures.

Hope you and yours are healthy - the stomach bug was tres NASTY

Ooooo! You lucky dog! I hear that the Asian fabric markets are the best. A friend went to China and she said that if she ever gets to go again, she's going to take clothes that she can leave behind and fill her suitcase with fabric for the return trip home. Annie

I pin basted a quilt for machine quilting yesterday and have another to pin up today. The first one is a surprise for the moderator on a sewing machine collector's list that I belong to. The blocks were contributed by other members, who made them on "people-powered" sewing machines. As usual, it will be free-motion quilted on my treadle quilting machine. The other top is for a client, who wants straight gridded quilting on it--that'll be done on Davis Vertical Feed treadle, a dedicated walking foot machine. Last night I dug out a UFO that I've been working on for years. It's bright batiks against a black background and I'm working on the hand-appliqued borders. You can see a picture of it in my webshots album "Quilts", it's the first quilt shown in the album. I call it "Celina Dreams" because I bought the fabrics when I was in Celina, TX visiting my pattern design partner and best friend, Deb.

Lucky you! The treasures among my fabric stash are lengths given to me by visiting scholars and students from Thailand--they're so gorgeous, I don't want to cut them, but I love seeing them every time I open the cabinet door.
