The wall hanging is done!

VKStitcher | Posted in Photo Gallery on

It’s finished!  This is the wall hanging that’s been in my head for over a year, has been re-designed 3 times, and has finally found its place on our living room wall.  This tall, angled wall has begged for some color since we built the house a little over 2 years ago.  With a 13-foot ceiling and hardwood floors, the room has a bit of an echo.  I made floor length drapes, slipcovers, and pillows last summer, and I thought a wall hanging might help soften the sounds too.

The design is based on a Frank Lloyd Wright art glass window, and the style fits with our Arts-and-Crafts decor.  Here’s a picture of the finished product, and the label on the back…

Beautiful and beautifully done! I love how the lamp echos the quilt but I bet that was your plan all along ;}. I bet you are so proud and so happy this is finally up in its place of prominence. Great job,

Thank you for your compliments.  Yes, the lamp did figure into the style for the wall hanging.  We also have a matching floor lamp across the room.  I am SO glad this is finished--it's like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders.  And my husband loves it too, so we're both happy.  :-)

Thank you for your kind words.  I wanted to do something in the Arts-and-Crafts style, so when I stumbled onto a website that featured Frank Lloyd Wright's art glass, I found my inspiration.

That's so beautifully done. I wish I could see the fabrics you used up close. It is just perfect with your other furnishings.

Thank you!  The fabrics are all Moda Marbles--Pine, Burgundy, and Paper Bag on a Natural background.  The "lead" is Dark Brown Quick Bias, and the binding is a dark brown solid Kona cotton.

Thanks, Mary.  It's a totally different feel and colors from our previous house.  It's taken a while to get it decorated, and there's still lots of things to do in other rooms.  More sewing projects!  :-)

Vickie: This is absolutely stunning ...and I echo everyone else's comments.  Truly outstanding.  Thanks so much for sharing it with us ...and for giving me the link so I could enjoy it as well.  Bravo!

Wow!  I have to show my husband that not "wallhanging" does not equal "country bumpkin".  Your fabric choice really gives it that stained glass appearance, and your workmanship looks perfect.  Job well done!

Thank you, thank you!  My husband likes the wallhanging too.  We have a lot of handcrafted pottery, glass, and wood accessories, but it's definitely not "country". :-)
