Toys!

KittyKat77 | Posted in Photo Gallery on

Here is a picture of some toys I made for my little ones for Christmas.
Also a pair of warm fuzzy wool pants made from an old sweater. They are great because they work as a waterproof cloth diaper cover, AND they keep baby warm if it happens to get a bit chilly. Which right now in Georgia it isn’t, but that’s OK. 😀

Love the mermaid. And the sweater-pants - how inventive! Like mother, like daughter.

Hi Connie,The mermaid doll was... a combination of things. I did a google search for free doll patterns, but most of the mermaid ones were a bit more, how do I put this? anatomically detailed? than I was looking for.So, after finding this pattern here : http://www.users.bigpond.net.au/diamonddollies/mmpattern.htmlI decided to alter it a bit. I printed off the pattern pieces, then traced over them on a plain sheet. I traced the tail fin straighter, in the interest of less detail to sew there, and traced the body with less curve to it. I ended up doing the arms and body as all one piece instead of sewing the arms on, and leaving the neck open. I used the head from this pattern: http://wwvisions.com/newsletter/jan_feb99/fpattern.gifThe clothes are made from sparkly lace that I snipped tiny holes in for armholes, and stitched to the body in back. I also ran a thread around the neck to gather it up a bit so it would not stand straight up at the neckline.Hope this helps! It wasn't a project I would describe as "simple" but it was VERY fun and VERY rewarding to see the girls with their mermaid dolls on Christmas.
