Thank you for the advice :-)

CyndiL | Posted in Photo Gallery on

Someone here~~I am so sorry I can’t remember who it was~~gave me some advice on shopping for buckram. Thank you so much. It is WONDERFUL stuff!!

I’ve used it for a bead embroidery piece, and even though it’s supposed to be drycleaned, it took paint very well and stiffened right back up when I ironed it.

Here’s the result, unframed. The big red blob in the lower left is a small mirror:

Cindi, I just love your work and I have to copy your directions for the elastic expansion bracelet recycling.  I have some lovely carved ivory pieces that I have been meaning to do just that with.  DH sent me a bracelt from Alaska about 50 years ago.  Now Just have to figure out what beads to use with it. I thought maybe bone, but there aren't any good bead stores around here. Any on-line sources that won't cost me an arm and a leg?  I'd like to do it up right. Maybe you have some other ideas.  I'd like to hear them. Now I have to go print out your directions. Thanks.

      Hi Jean!

I've often been able to find "just the right thing" in either the Rio Grande catalog or Ornamental Resources.  They both have websites :

Hope you enjoy making the bracelet :-)

        Hi,

Sorry to butt in late, but where do I find these re-string directions for an elastic bracelet?

        Thanks,

No problem! It's just a web article that I wrote on turning an ugly old expansion bracelet into a necklace. You can find the directions here:

Fabulous, beautiful work, Cyndi! Thanks also for the other links. My fave local supplier isn't open hours that are convenient for me, although they have some great things and decent prices.

I hope to treat myself or someone to something from your site soon :-)

    dropping by from CT,

Now *that* is the beauty of on-line!  Open 24-7... I can get into trouble that way.

Thank you for your kind words about my work :-)

      Cyndi
