   Wow! Thanks for sending that along. It sure was an expensive piece of equipment, wasn't it? Probably comparable to our $7000 and $8000 machines today!

   What a beautiful cabinet! And a whole $23 for it! My goodness.

   I actually have a modern one with some similarities. Back in the 70s, there was a mailaway furniture outfit called "Yield House," which sold its items as kits. My husband found a remarkable sewing cabinet in their catalogue and got it for me. It's mostly solid wood, with a huge and wonderful thread storage drawer, a big cubby to put the sewing machine away, two file drawers and two large but shallow storage drawers. A major difference from the lovely cabinet you show is that the top of my unit has fold-down wings. Unexpanded, the top measures 27" wide by 24" deep, but when the wings are up, it's 70" long!

   It could serve as a cutting table, I suppose, but I put my sewing machine on one wing, and my serger on the other.

   I do daily bless my sweet husband for finding this gem, putting it together, and finishing it for me.

   Gosh, Elona, I haven't thought about Yield House in ages. I think there must be Yield House furniture in my parents' house to this day. Not a sewing cabinet, though.
