Got the last Badge for the Chicago Park District Quilt, and also posting the finished jacket.  I think I want to embellish this jacket, I will be looking for trims to help the features in the sleeves stand out or something.  It needs something!  Any suggestions are welcomed. The fabric takes away from the construction of the jacket.

The wall hanging is GREAT! It looks so harmonious. Where are they going to hang it?What about topstitch in a darker tone of the dark colour? It would accentuate the shape without making the jacket any busier. Simple and elegant. Cathy

Somewhere at the Fernwood Park District facility where we have our meetings.

      The topstitching is dark purple.

Sorry, did not see that, it really hid didn't it. I see what you mean. Almost needs a braid or twisted cord then. What about bias binding as a trim? You up for something like that? Cathy

Good thoughts.  Will be shopping tomorrow at JoAnnes and will look around.  Also at the new place "L.Z. Products" Sandra took us a couple weeks ago.  They have a gazillion trims and things.  I know I'll find something there.  But I can't go there until next week.  But that's O.K.  I have a coat and jacket waiting in the wings for the cooler weather already.

The wall hanging smashing!  And I love your tie-died jacket.  As for your wanting to top stitch/trim ...how about making your own by using the "twist-using-the-bobbin-winder, with your dark purple thread?  If you twist using several threads at a time, it makes a terrific looking trim.  After you twist it, you attach it to your jacket with couching - either with your dark purple thread or with clear thread.  Just a thought.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it.

Now, that thread twisting sounds great.  I can twist thread and yarn to come up with a good solid color.  Saves money too!  Brilliant .... lady.  Thanks.

Thanks, Rodezzy.  Please post a photo when you get it completed.  I'm always looking to you for inspiration ...as are many on this board.  You are such a classy babe to many of us gals who need a little push now and then to get out of our ruts.

Girl stop!!!! You are my inspiration, all the beautiful things you sew!!!???!!!  Get out of here, I love your work.  If it wasn't for this forum, I don't even think I would be so bold.  I'm always hovering in the back.  I'm sprouting here because of the people here encouraging and loving me!  Thanks to you and everyone whos eyes scan these threads.

They both turned out great!  I love that the quilt looks complex, yet not busy at all, very well balanced.

I love your coat but Isee what you meant about it needing something.  I know you will find just the right thing!  What kind of closure does it have?  Buttons or faux buttons might be interesting down the front.  Have you looked at your yarns to see if you have something that you could knit or crochet for sleeve edging?  How does it look with a scarf?  Mary

Oooooooooooooo Nicki Epstein, Crocheting on the Edge.  Better look and see what might work.  I put on snap at the very top.  It's not a lap over closing on this jacket.  There is a picture of the pattern in another thread.  So it is open down the front.  But that doesn't mean I can't embellish with buttons either.  I'll think of something.  If I embellish it enough I can put it in the quilt show as "wearable art".  giggle.

Good morning!  Please let me know if that book has instructions that would work for beginning crocheters.  It sounds right up my alley!!!  When you find just the "right" embellishment technique, it will "speak" to you and tell you this is the one!   It would be great if you can put it in the wearable art category in the show!!!  Mary

The book has simple to advanced designs.  There is something for everyone.  My friend brought the book to our craft meeting Tuesday night.  I looked through it then.  But I didn't focus on anything.

I google searched her, at Amazon.com she has two pages of books, wow, she's as prolific a writer as you are a fiber artist!  Hmmm, maybe you could start writing a book "Rodezzy's Fiber Art Eperience"  with photos of finished projects and references to your resources.  (That made me remember the "Jimmy Hendrix" album "Are You Experienced?"  he he, he was amazing too!  Mary

Yes she is.  I have her book "Knitting Never Felt Better:" I believe it is.  The picture on the front of the book is worth the book.  Will I ever knit and felt that shawl?  You never know, but I loved the look of the felted projects she has in that book.

Me, write a book?!  I don't think so.

It always feels like an adventure story, anticipating the excitement as you go through the process of your creations.  You make magic!

So does all of the fantastic people on this thread.  There are so many talents here and my inspiration comes from them and you!  Thanks to everybody for bringing me out and indulging my muse.

Do you keep a scrapbook of your creations? Even just snaps and notes? That is writing a book. A history book of your work. You may never publish it yourself, but it is a wonderful thing for future generations to treasure. Cathy

            Nope!

But, you know.......that's a good idea.  Thanks.  I have pictures and I can put them together in a book of sorts, and start documenting stuff from today....on.  Brilliant!  (I like that word lately!)

Yes, I hope you do!  Someday you will be able to look back and be amazed at how much you accomplished and all the "good vibes" that you sent out into the universe.

            Rodezzy-

Have you considered a little beading just around the nckline? Nothing too much, just some dark purple to really bring out the color?  But I also like the idea someone had of thread twisting too.  I do think you need to go with a dark purple embellishment.  Anything else would be too light.

I have been thinking abou this fabric since you first posted a pic of it before you cut it-is it some that you have had a while?  Or can I ask where you got it?  I really like it and would love to make a jacket of my own out of it.  A different style, but I see it over a cream turtleneck with jeans this winter.

            THANK YOU!paula

Very, very nice jobs (as usual, you busy girl, you) on both projects.  Both Mary & Cathy have good suggestions for embellishing the jacket, as I see what you mean - it needs something, but my mind is blank at the moment.

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!  As usual, you show us up with your workmanship and you are sooooo prolific! I still say you never sleep...LOL.

I like the idea of making your own trim with thread/yarn/fabric strips?????  It could really make it POP!

I'm working on alterations for a gal that does Loretta Lynn impressions.  I guess she's pretty good and has met Loretta several times....not my kind of music, but I don't have to like it to sew for her.

Just got a package of vintage lace I bought on eBay. It is gorgeous!  I could get into real trouble there.

You really should make up a portfolio of your projects. I'd had pix for years of gowns I'd made and finally put one together. Now I have it to show to clients...and I've been able to add many more to it.

    Keep up the inspiration!!!!!

    Deb
