My First Knitted Sock Yipeee!

rodezzy | Posted in Photo Gallery on

I started this last night because my craft group is tonite and most are knitters, so I wanted to have something to knit.  I have a knit-a-long dvd that I used to get it this far and it was not that hard.  I had to frog the top about four times before I got it right, but I got it.   giggle.

Good for you! I knit a dozen or more pairs of socks each year--they are my favorite knitting project. You'll love wearing your own socks.

Congratulations!  I have bought the materials but have not started my first sock project.  I'm a little nervous about it.

I purchased a DVD "Leisure Arts, The Art of Knitting & Crochet", it has a knit-a-long sock demo.  It took away all of my anxiety about knitting the sock.  I have never knitted anything except scarves and ponchos.  Flat pieces.  I'm very happy and excited about knitting socks now.  It's magic.  You must get the one that says The Art of Knitting & Crochet, that is the one with the sock knit-a-long.  The instructor walks you through each step and the DVD pauses at each section along the way.  You press play when you are ready to go on, or go back to the previous section, or put it in reverse to see it again....as many times as it takes.  It was really a wonderful tool for knitting.  I also have "Knit Stitches in Motion" from Liesure Arts.  It has knit-a-long stitch patterns and then a project for each.  It takes you step-by-step through the stitch pattern with or without instructor commentaries.   Practiced the snowflake stitch this weekend.
