Homecoming Dress

kbalinski | Posted in Photo Gallery on

During the last year or two, I’ve recouped my passion (and time) for sewing.  Thanks to this discussion group and magazine, I’ve learned so many wonderful techniques and just wanted to thank all you ladies that have ever offered your advice.

This is my latest project, and I’m so very proud of it.  The short story is a coworker hired me to recreate a department store dress in another color for her daughter’s Homecoming this year.  All the details and pictures are at my blog, but in short, I couldn’t have done this project without being a loyal reader and participant here.

Many Thanks,

Kristine in Michigan

Ooooooooooh!  You are so good, what a great dress and it drapes so perfectly!  I'm sure the lucky young lady will look lovely in her "one of a kind" dress.  kudos.

Kristine!  Amazing!  I like your dress better.  You did a much nicer finishing job, it hangs so nicely and I am sure fits the young lady much better as well.  Bravo.  Cathy

Good job! I like the color best of the one you made - just personal preference.

Wow, what a beautiful dress!  This was quite a project, and you copied the RTW dress to a T; perfect for a Homecoming Queen.  You should be proud!  Thanks for sharing it with us.

kbalinski:  Exquisite.  I love the precision of the details on your dress such as the much nicer velvet bow on your dress, and the drape of the hem.  I checked out your blog and the construction of this dress makes it as precisely done inside as outside.

You will receive great advice here, but your skill in applying that advice is very advanced.  Thanks for the inspiring pictures.

      Ladies,

Thanks for the compliments, I really appreciate your attention to detail and the time you took to review my work.  I can think everything I make is wonderful, but having experienced sewists like you to give me honest feedback is really the best feedback I could ask for.

Thanks so much, and have a wonderful day!

Now that is what I call prom/homecoming dresses.  So sweet and pretty.  Just darling.  You did a wonderful job.  Better than store bought!
