From Butterick 5051. I had to modify the back of the dress; both the halter neck and the lower back were WAY too big. I made the neckline almost three inches shorter to avoid having a neckline down to my bellybutton, and I took in the back center seam two inches because it was gapping open at the armpits.
Maybe the pattern is MUCH larger than others? I made my usual size, which checks out w/my measurements on the pattern envelope.

That's a very pretty outfit! You said that you bought the pattern in your usual measurements - was it by bust measurement or upper bust measurement? I've found that the upper bust measurement gives me a better fit in the neck & shoulder area. Your alterations look good, though, so you've got a great fit. Good for you! You'll know now how to alter the pattern for the next time you make this dress, as it looks like a very comfortable dress now & the jacket is super.

I just use the bust measurement, but based on how big this thing was, I'm not sure WHO it would fit. Maybe my RTW size would have been closer for once! I did get kind of lazy on the jacket sleeves. THey're a bit puckered. I had a million projects to do this weekend so I sort of just let it go and decided it didn't look too terrible ... I am the laziest sewer, ever. Details? What details?
You might try a smaller size pattern next time. I've found that the patterns that match my bust size end up being huge on top. I've had way more luck with choosing a pattern by my upper bust measurement (fitting is better throughout the shoulders), then altering it from there. Not to worry this time, though, as you did a great job fitting it to cover everything with no gaps. Good for you!

I have to get a smaller pattern for my size. Whenever I have bought according to my measurements it is always bigger.
I rarely make the same again style or use pieces from that one to work with another.
I usually have to take in under the arm if it is sleeveless like this one.
My blooms didn't blossom - my sister went through that line twice for me and got it all. teeheeheheeeee :~)

I bought 2 really neat tops at Target on Clearance and they are way too low so I will wear a nice contrasting color camisole underneath.

I agree with Scrubble4; you could wear this dress anywhere. It will be so nice and cool on hot summer days, plus the jacket will be great for cooler evenings. Beautiful work! I, too, love your fabric choices.
