The Details:

The pattern was McCall’s #8675
The bow I put Hot Fixed Swarski Crystals on and a few around the waist band

Purple bears bow I just cheap craft store ones I glued on…

I have to say I could have done better with the dress…lots of learning on this one!! But it looked great on her!!

Thanks..But of course if you saw it in person I had some challenges however I didn't have time to unsew and start again!! But I found a way to make it look good!!This was a fun project!!Giselle is all about "Fancy" one of her favorite books is "Fancy Nancy"

Yes Purple Bear is very well loved!!I think I have her talked into giving her a bath..but She says that Purple Bear is scared!! So I think next week we will unstuff wash, dry her and then take her back to be restuffed! Which Build a Bear workshop does at no charge!! yeahI need to fix her nose too. I have to find just the right color of embroidery floss...and do it when she is unstuffed!!

Loved your dresses. Sometimes it's necessary to just live with mistakes, but I can't see any in your dresses. What would you do differently if you were doing it again?

Well the first thing I would do differently is to get my gathers right in the skirt attaching it to the bodice..the material was not cooperating at all...I tried to use my gathering foot for my machine however didn't quite work like it should on that fabric...And then I would attach a nice band around that seam on the inside where the bodice/and skirt attaches.. before the zipper and such before attaching the bow..I just had to use Steam a Seam to attach it was bugging the heck out of Giselle...well even when I thought I was ok using a press cloth and such...I found out I was melting the fabric in a few areas!! Fortunately for me...it was in a place where it was gathered so I could just sew it and no one knew...plus I should have used a different size...smaller...but oh well she will be in it for a bit longer!! So there you have it!! I do plan on using this pattern again and working out my all I have learned!! Of course Purple Bear's Dress went fine...too funny though Giselle was just baffled at the fact I didn't have to measure her!!Blondie

It's nice to see what your solutions were. Thank you for sharing that.I've never used Steam A Seam, but used some Seams Great to bind the ravelly edges of Tencel fabric I used in some men's pj's/pull-on pants. This was my first trial of this product, and I found it very frustrating and tedious to work with. I also melted some of it when pressing after sewing it on, and so had to remove the stiff, scratchy residue and cover again with more of the Seams Great. Cool iron pressing from there on out, which worked okay with the Tencel. This binding is very sheer and lightweight, great for avoiding bulk, but quite slippery and tricky for my arthritic hands to work with, I found. Have you used this type binding before?

Very pretty Christmas dress. I use to make clothes for my daughter's stuffed bunny to match her Easter dresses. She never has forgotten and she is 21 now.Marcy

Well then with all those memories...mine and Giselle's then it was worth all of it!! I enjoy it because she loves it!!

Thanks for sharing the darling dresses. you are getting better and better.

Have her friends placed orders yet for themselves and their favourite bears?

Isn't it nice to still 'learn' to make garments. I'm sure she looked gorgeous in it.

I made a new dress for me. It had gathers and pleats, which I don't do often, and it was fully lined. I have had great comments and proud to say "I made this". response is 'thought so, not seen in the stores.....I wish I could sew'. I took my time and after a week it was done. It's great to have clothes that actually fit!

It was being done while the quilted embroidered wall hanging was stitching out on the 350e.

Now I am having a break, seeing my family in Brisbane Queensland, then Thomas returns to school 29th January.

    Only an email away!

I saw this dress at the Joann fabrics store in a suburb of Chicago this past weekend.  I was floored to see it in person.

You did an excellent job of it and a bears dress to boot.  Great stuff.

I love these threads gatherings.  I feel like I've met a whole new world of friends that understand my crafting lingo.  It's awesome!

Thanks for the pics and for sharing.

Thanks you will have to laugh every time I go into our JoAnns I see the dress and of course say well I like mine better...I added that lil bit of glitz to it!! I am surprised it is still up myself as they should be getting in all the spring demos by now!! All the spring fabrics are in the stores!!I am glad to share I love to see pics too!!!

Hi Blondie2sew, that is a hoot.  But, that's right, yours is better because you put in extra love for the person(s) they were made for.  Purple bear was so very cute in the dress.  Unfortunately my grand kids won't wear anything dressy like that.  My 9 year old would have looked at me like I had two heads with streamers coming out of my ears.  (giggle).  I don't even try making nothing for the 15 year old.  I just dole out money to her.  I was teaching the nine year old to sew, but that took a hit lately.  She's no longer interested right now.  She'll be back.

It's probably still up because they were still trying to get rid of inventory before actually going full bloom with the spring stuff.

So, about pictures, OK....the vest I crocheted this week and wore yesterday.  I am already in the process of making another one.  I did the body last night.  Tonight I will decide on the final outcome of the piece.  I design as I go, never know what it will end up looking like, and I'm using different yarn.  One I've had for two years.
