1st. corset!

JanF | Posted in Photo Gallery on

trying to attach photos of my first corset – decorated with free – motion embroidery – words – on red side – words related to “negative” comments re. women wearing corsets. On inside (black) red words re. more traditional, safe, caring aspects of women’s lives, jobs etc.
No doubt you can guess which side my husband would like me to wear – but its just a show piece for themes in a new shop (when i finally get things done!)and was completed for an art show, commenting on womens’ roles. i’ll never wear it as although actually quite comfortable to wear – I feel a right prat!! All boobs and “look at me”- not my scene at all!!!

Very very nice, way cool on the boobs! I wish I had some, I have a corset and youjust get a tiny hint of cleavage - and thats when I wear boobies in a bag with it! LOL, I'd still rather be flat chested than too much!

Thanks - but i think you might be right - i would love smaller boobs _ I'm 34 E-F - both my daughters are rather well endowed too up to FF -g
but of course the younger ones handle it a bit easier! One, if she is feeling particularly bolshie, can be quite "in your face" but even she admits to hating the way men talk to her boobs.
At least you can add to - I can't take away!
      Thanks Jan

Hot Hot Hot and Sizzlin Hot!!

Girl I would wear that out in a heart beat.... and of course your honey wants you in that, I can see why!!

What an incredible work you have done.....you give yourself a huge standing ovation!!!!!!

I want to do a corset!! Have't as of yet but this will inspire me. Especially since this was your first one and What a Job!!

So what size is it maybe it will fit me when you are through with it!!

I do have a jean corset I bought from VS and I wore it out dancing with my honey and of course he was digging it!! I on the other hand have not issues with feeling all boobs....I guess that is my self and you either love me or think I am just flaunting which I am not...Just being me and being a woman and who says a mom can't be sexy anyway!!

So that is of course My own personal opinion and others may not see it that way.

But girl that is one Hot Corset!!

    Love love love it

    Thanks for sharing
    Connie

Thanks for your vote of confidence in how it looks - ur right - confidence is what it needs to wear it outside the house!hubby would like me to - but i thought i might make the next one a little more modern as this is from a traditional pattern - Butterick 4254 and I want to develop my ideas for more wearable art corsets.
it was an easy pattern to follow by the way and Vena Cava website is good for notions etc. No doubt in US will be similar sites with no problems with posting stuff to you.
Just trying to decide if ive enough time to make another one for Christmas!!
      Thanks Jan

I know 1 of my daughters has actually thought about it - but i keep saying - not till after children!!
The thought goes through me really - although i do know some people who have had it done and are more than pleased!
Funny how some women are comfortable with their size and others just can't flaunt it without being self -conscious - this is my problem!
Anyway - if i'm going to get my corset business off the ground I need a good talking to!

          Actually web site = http://www.venacavadesign.co.uk
and they are quite good for replying quickly - but haven't checked internatiuonal posting/buying!
There might be US sites where notions are cheaper to buy because over here i think sewing stuff appears to be quite expensive pro-rata to USA
but got a fairly good range of stuff!

Thanks for you info!!For a lady whom does incredible work on Corsets you need to be wearing them for advertisment!! ha ha ha... Congrats on your dream and I know you will have fun in the process of it all..Connie

Thanks for voteof confidence - problem is that I'm a great one for having ideas - and starting - but then schoolwork gets in the way and things go on the back burner. This is why I feel confident this will be a goer - retirement looms in the distance and I've actually given myself a timetable to get things done by - and daughters are also keen to have their own businesses so -hopefully this time it will happen.
Mind you I'm probably the same as all sewers - many a time making something and selling it - or making something for someone and getting paid for it has kept the wolf from the door in the past! but haven't got the time to pay it full time attention otherwise!

Wow, what a wonderful job you did on this corset. What are the little trinkets on the side? Really cute. You have so much talent. Thanks for posting pixs.
    Marcy

    1. JanF | | #10

The trinkets are just houses and hearts done by zig-zagging around a silk fabric shape(interfaced) and then embroidering on, using free - motion work, the windows and doors on the houses and the image of lips, kissing on the hearts! I then just attached them to cord.
      Thanks for your appreciation!

wow! those are great! threads should do an article on you!
    great work; i'm in admiration.
any way to post the pics smaller so i can see the image all at once? it's HUGE on my screen-

    1. JanF | | #8

I have no idea how to post smaller pics - only just got to grips with attaching pics to emails!! Still a bit of a dinosaur in some things!
If its easy to explain - I can follow step by step instructions - pics are on my computer - and i can sometimes access thumbnails - but how to attach them seems to go wrong somehow!
Do I need to save as thumbnails in one place 1st?
oh god - I suppose my boobs have come out enormous on screen!!!
