Sleeve pattern for sleeveless princess line dress

Virjim | Posted in Patterns on

I have a pattern for a sleeveless princess line dress and I need to wear sleeves to hide my “tuck shop” arms! All I want is a little sleeve but I am not sure about developing the pattern to suit the style of dress.

Do I add a puffy sleeve or straight sleeve?

How do I measure the pattern of the sleeve to fit the armhole of the dress pattern?

before you make the sleeve pattern, you will need to lower the armhole to the dress.  A sleeveless dress has a higher armhole than one with sleeves.  My daughter has my patternmaking book and I don't remember how much to lower/rise the armhole.  Maybe someone else remembers or can look it up.  What style of sleeve to make is up to you.  What style of sleeve do you like the best?   Personally, I like 3/4 sleeves.

      Thank you Chris for that.
