simplicity 4241 vest

I am finally getting around to making this vest... as I read through the directions I had flash backs of the "vest that refused to turn"... Has any one actually made the vest according to the printed directions?? other wise I am going to ditch the directions and do it my own way! Some times I wonder if the people who write those directions actually do any sewing!!
