Favorite pattern for purses?

blingy | Posted in Patterns on

I am looking for a GOOD pattern for making cloth type purses.  I am trying to use a SEE & SEW and frankly it has been a disaster!  The instructions are poor and there is no way to turn the front flap one both pieces are covered with a stiff interfacing.  Has anyone made a nice purse with lots of pockets that you are really happy with?  I love the look of the qulited purses so if anyone would like to share info about a good pattern I would appreciate it!  Thanks!

I've had good results with these patterns:

"City Bag" and "Towne Purse" from Lazy Girl Designs - quilted bags with lots of pockets and an easy zipper installation.
"Laura's Zippered Tote" from Laura Martell/The Creative Thimble (see Page 2 of the patterns) - uses fusible interfacing for body (not quilted), and has lots of pockets; includes directions for 3 different sized bags.

Both of these designers have a quite a selection of bags and sizes to choose from.  I bought the patterns at a quilt shop, but you can order them online as well.

A photo of a purse I made for myself is in post 6868.1, and a larger one I made for my sister is in post 7276.92.  Both are "Laura's Zippered Tote".
