You were strongly recommended to me as a possible source of help! (and maybe someday I can help someone in return….) Sorry for the splattercast on the discussion, but I am in haste with deadlines.
I really, really need to find complete copies of some old patterns, none of which are commercially available any more. Back in 1976, Simplicity and Butterick (I believe) both marketed wonderful (non-accurate) mens and women’s patterns for Bicentennial clothing; if anyone could lend or sell these patterns to me, I would be grateful and generous! I had them once, but have utterly lost them. 🙁
Also, and perhaps most pressing, I am desperate to find Folkwear #508 (I think that’s the number), which is one of the Metropolitan Museum patterns; it is a jumper and jacket suit from c. 1915, showing a photo on the front of a handsome brown tweed-ish jumper and a lovely military-tailored jacket. I believe it was called the Ladies’ Traveling Suit. This is one of the few Folkwears that is not going to be re-issued, which breaks my heart, because I found out of its existence too late to buy one.
If anyone has this pattern, and would be willing to sell it, Oh Lord, I would be so grateful! I would even love to borrow it if I could, so long as it has all its pieces. I would take very good care of it…. 🙂

Try looking on the Ebay auction at http://www.ebay.com I've seen quite a few bicentennial patterns for sale.
*Sharon, I too have been trying to find Folkwear Pattern 508 The Traveling Suit. I love this pattern. I watch ebay for it, have left my pleas all over the internet for it, contacted constumers, etc., to no avail. In fact, I think you could probably find my posting for it here in the archives. I promise you that if I find it, I will trace it and forward it to you. If you are fortunate enough to find this pattern, please leave a posting or email me. Thanks.
*Just the other day, I think I saw the Folkwear Travelling Suit at both Stonemountain and Daughter and Lacis in Berkeley. If memory serves, these stores have websites, but memory doesn't serve as to exactly what those addresses are. However, bet you could find them at http://www.lyonslpgas.com/sewscape.

*Sharon,If you are unable to find the folk wear pattern many similar designs are shown in attic copies by Amazon Dry Goods. They have anumber of suits you would just love. I hope that helps!
*If you are looking for vintage style patterns, such as Folkwear, Past Patterns, Attic Copies etc, you might want to see Forever Timeless. They specialize in patterns for reproduction clothing, from the earliest period clothing, even Henry VIII stuff and right up to the classic 50's costumes. *Vinay,KWIK SEW has a wonderful book called Beautiful Lingerie with master pattern included sizes xsmall to xlarge. This publication is from 1990 written by Kerstin Martensson. The instructions and fabric suggestions are really great.Terry H
*I have the pattern, but I love it too. I cannot sell it. If you'd still like to borrow it I am willing. Maybe you could trace the pattern pieces. I wll not have much time in the next few months anyway. That is of course if you have not found it by now.
*HI-I am looking for patterns to a type of embroidery-weaving-did a couple on T-shirts in Florida-pattern given to a class but no one knows where to find more patterns-we used a small piece of plastic canvas-marked dots on shirt-used a needle to sew varigated floss from dot to dot-adding beads as we went-then we did weaving on the top--also did a butterfly with no beads-just weaving.I am sure there must be books to buy but I live in a small town and do not have access to lots of supplies other than on the inter-net --PLEASE HELP--thanks-Shirley (please email me at [email protected])
