Weight of thread

cecelia | Posted in Machine Embroidery on

I have several programs that make lace on my embroidery machine.  However none of them tell me the weight of thread I should use.  Should I use a finer weight such as 60 or 80 weight?  Should I use the same thread in the bobbin?   Thank you

Hi there Caecelia,                                                                                                            I too have several lace packages, they recomend you use 40 weight Rayon embroidery thread I use Robson Anton. For stand alone lace you should use the same thread, if you are stitching onto fabric use a light weight bobin fill, I recomend Madeira Burmilion No: 200. Use Metafil  No:12 (80) on fabric and No: 11 (75) embroidery needle when using hot water soluable aqua film. If the lace is not fine enough for you you could go down  a thread weight, if you do please let me know I'd be very interested how it turns out.

    regards and happy embroidering.
