straight designs around a dress hem?

foster | Posted in Machine Embroidery on

I have just made a dress for my granddaughter’s Christmas program. I would like to machine embroidery a holly leaf pattern around the skirt of the dress. Do you have any suggestions or method that you use to keep the line of designs even, meeting each other correctly, not wavy, around the skirt of the dress? My problem is that I have a 4″ hoop and will need to rehoop many times to complete the design around the entire skirt of the dress. Thanks, Wanda

Have you considered alternating rows of holly with a single, compatible design between? If you allow a bit of space between each motif you won't have to worry about matching the ends.....and it will reduce the stitching time.
