Software to use designs on machine

gramylulu | Posted in Machine Embroidery on

Hi, I am very new at this. I have a machine embroidery question. I have a new Baby Lock Ellego machine and I have noticed designs on webistes and I download them but can not transfer them to my machine. Do I need software to to this? I have an Apple Mac. Is there software for macs?

Thanks for any help.

I looked up your machine on the Internet.  I believe you can plug your machine into your computer with a connector cord.  If your manual doesn't tell you how, maybe the dealer can.

My Baby Lock Proline uses a card for designs and I needed to get a program to convert designs to a re-writable card.  But from what  I have read, you just need the cord.

Last night after I left the Gathering I went back to the Baby Lock web site.  I had gone there to check if it was the machine I thought it was.

Anyway under the Topic Software or Projects were free embroidery designs 3 being 4x4" and one larger.

Your best bet is ask your dealer for sure what you need. Most companies have a customizer program that allows them to arrange, combine and upload designs to their machines. Some independent companies have these kind of programs also. If all you need is a cord as the other poster mentioned that would be great.

There are LOTS of FREE designs all over the internet that can be downloaded. If you go to my Squidoo Lens: http://www.squidoo.com/GaileteSews you can find a long list of embroidery sites all with free designs to try. Hopefully all the links work. Whenever I find a new site I try to link to them from Squidoo. My best advice when downloading designs is to make file folders for each website and then file folders within each of those file folders to store different type designs like flowers, Christmas designs, applique designs, animals, childrens, etc. If you start out storing them efficiently, you won't be overwhelmed when you find you have over a 1000 designs in one folder :) !

Happy embroidering. My website also has lots of links and book reviews for many books that cover machine embroidery that you may be interesting in looking at. I love being able to have my links on line so I don't lose track of sites I like and I like sharing them with others. When you find a site you really like, sign up for their newsletter and you will get to see all the latest designs and find out when new freebies are uploaded.

    Gail
