   I looked at all the machines you mentioned. I previously owned two Berninas (830 and 930) and still own a Pfaff 1475. My new machine is a Babylock Ellageo. I ruled out the Bernina for two reasons. When I bought the Pfaff 10 years ago I compared it to the top of the line Bernina. The Pfaff had obviously better stitch quality. Presently the Artista 200 has the highest list price of any in its class. I eliminated the Pfaff after using one in a class given by Cindy Losekamp at a Sewing and Quilt show. It worked beautifully but was very confusing - not at all intuitive. At the same show I tried the Viking Designer 1 and Brother Ult 2003 and found both easy to use with great stitch quality. The Brother of course is much cheaper. The problem with the Viking is that my local dealer is actually just space in a Joann's fabric store. There are no repairmen just two salepeople. I just can't spend thousands of dollars on a machine bought in that climate. So where does the Ellageo fit in. It is the same machine as the Brother Ult but has a greater stitch selection. Furthermore I have a local Babylock dealer that provides fantastic prices, knowledgeable staff, awesome classes, and a variety of notions, threads, and embroidery designs. He has also been the #1 Babylock dealer in the USA "forever".

   I love my Ellageo 3.

   I think that the bes way to decide what machine you want is to figure out what you want to do with it now and what you may be doing say 5 years from now.  I myself have a Viking Rose and the Designer 1 and love them both.  I went with the Viking machines first because of ease of use and with the D1 as I can download upgrades for it from the internet.   Best thing is find a dealer that sells several different lines and check them side by side. That way you will find the one that suits you better.
