Embroidery Issue, fabric rips, anyone ever experienced this?
Hello Everyone! I am brand new to this forum, and have only been sewing and embroidering for about 8 months. I went out on a limb and bought a Singer Futura Quartet because I wanted a sewing/embroidery combo machine. I have taught myself everything that I know, and despite the fact that I know my machine and software decently, I still consider myself new to embroidery.
I am attaching an image of my issue. It occurs on t-shirts and burp cloths so far, but has happened despite needle and thread changes, a variety of stabilizers (on top and bottom), spray adhesive, etc. The fabric simply rips at the stitching on some of my pieces (not all of them)… This has happened while embroidering, and I can see it while the machine goes, and it has also happened after washing shirts just one time. This isn’t cheap fabric… By “not cheap” I mean I’ve paid $8-$11 per yard for it. It is regular 100% cotton fabric.
I don’t know if it is a thread tension issue, or just what else it could be. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Fabric Pulling Away From Embroidery
This looks like ME (machine embroidery) applique. You may have trimmed the fabric too close to the basting/running/tack down stitching.
You may also want to widen the satin stitch a bit more.
Spray cut away with Sulky temp fabric spray and then hoop it.
Compressing the nap of the fabric by ironing it just before placing it onto the stabilizer may also help.
Always test new techniques on similar fabric. The thread and stabilizer used for testing should be the same as well. When compared to ruining a project this will not a be waste of time or supplies.

The same thing happened to me. I finally widened my stich a little bit and that did the trick!
