Embroidery format exchanges

brownj6610 | Posted in Machine Embroidery on

I’d like to see more detailed information on changing from one format to another without having to purchase another priority resizing package.  For example, I have a Bernina Artista 180, and had purchased an Amazing Designs package.  I have a magic box with which I can change from one format to another, BUT, I wasn’t able to resize the embroidery even though the design was only 1 inch by 1.5 inches.  I couldn’t resize it on my machine, in the Magic Box software or with ArtLink.  I am tired of purchasing designs that I can’t use.  I’d like to see an article in Threads on what extraneous software has to be purchased in order to be able to use a manufacturer’s designs with ease.  Also, what cheap software programs are out there which might allow one to design his/her own embroidery without having to put out $1000 or more?

The limitations of Artlink made me very angry when I bought my Bernina. It really does very little.

Since then I have bought the full Artista digitising and editing package at a substantial discount. I know you are balking at the price, but it really does do everything you might need.

There is no need to buy the new version 4. See if you can get hold of a copy of version 3, maybe second hand.

Personally I am not keen on packages of designs. What would I do with so many very similar designs? Instead I patronise a small and very carefully selected group of websites whose designs are available individually or in very small groups. This includes some of the Threads designs.

    Cheers,

    Ghillie

I am just getting a new machine-also new to embroidery-so much to learn.

Thanks for the information.  I will not waste my time and money on larger collections since I read your post.  Thanks again.

      Donna
