digitizing software recommendations

Ktcrugs's picture

I recently bought a Brother Innovis embroidery machine and am looking for recommendations of digitizing software - mostly I plan to take jpeg logos, simple ones - and stitch them out - I had the old Janome MemoryCraft 5000 with the scan and sew (used cards) and that worked nicely enough for what i need - I thought with the usb capability i could translate easily, but do not know what software would be best - cost runs from $299 - $2999!! how do I choose?

Digitizing Software For Machine Embroidery (post #38937, reply #1 of 4)

Look for trials so you can see what would work best for you.   Brother and Buzz Tools are two companies, and there are more -  just do an Internet search.

Watch for location,  countries are not bound by US copyright laws and you could end up with counterfeit software and designs, if designs are offered.

Brother software (post #38937, reply #2 of 4)

I bought the Brother Dream Machine (Innovis XV8500D) last year and the PE Design NEXT came free with the machine, along with a ton of other freebies.  I took a couple classes on it and I love it.  I don't know what it retails for, since it was free.  I live in Houston and Penny Lancaster knows everything there is to know about the PE Design NEXT.

PE-Design Next, Floriani Total Control, EMbird, Masterworks (post #38937, reply #3 of 4)

I have been working with Brother PE-Design Next, Floriani Total Control and Masterworks III.

They are a breeze to use.
 1) It will break-apart any purchased design into each component for easy modification.
 2) The lettering is a dream to manipulate.
3) Digitizing features are identical to a professional house. You can snag a logo from the internet and digitize it. You can design and digitize many of  your  own logos.
4) Changing stitch sequence of purchased design, ordering to eliminate jump stitches, changing stitch style and direction (slant) are easy and make your finished project.

EmbroideryWare Free Digitizing Program (post #38937, reply #4 of 4)

Hi Everyone,

I am writing a free program for machine embroidery. It's totally free. I started the project about three months ago because I wanted to create a program that would do interesting stitching along a path that my commercial software did not do.

It has evolved to something much more than that. The satin stitching is pretty complete. I am still refining fills, they work but do more jumps than I would like.

Please check it out and let me know what you think of my program.
