Who knows

makesthings | Posted in Knitting and Crochet on

This past summer I was a crochet judge for our State Fair and I saw a couple of afghans which used a technique I’ve never seen before (or since) and I wondered if anybody would recognize it if I described it and tell me what its called & how to do it.

It looked like two layers of filet crocheted together somehow. It looked kind of like a waffle. I wish I could discribe it better than this.

I hope somebody can help, before I drive myself nuts!! Thanks in advance.

Jean, that sounds like Tunisian crochet (some call it crocheknit). I don't think thats how this was done. It looked like it was done with one row of one color and then the next row in a different color so the two were woven through each other. This was less dense than Tunisian and looked like filet crochet as opposed to the Tunisian which lookes kind of like knitting.

Have you checked out this site? You may be able to find it here.

http://www.stitchguide.com/  It seems to have everything!

Jean: thanks for the tip. Lots of cool stuff there, but didn't see what I was looking for. I guess I'll just have to fugure it out on my own. Thanks, Katherine

Shoot, I was hoping you'd find it there.  Well, when you figure it out, please take the time to pass it on. I'm curious.
