Knitting Tips & Trade Secrets cover

wibaux's picture

I have been looking for a pattern for an cabled/aran sweater, and haven't found anything that has been exactly right. I recently bought the Taunton book, "Knitting Tips & Trade Secrets" and the green cardigan on the cover is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. Anyone have any ideas on a very similar pattern, or how I can do this one, etc.?

Here's the picture - maybe someone has similar instructions for you.

Me again. I found this list of on-line instructions. It will take a little research on your part, but I'm almost certain you could find something here to use or at least to adapt. You must be a fairly accomplished knitter to want to tackle an Aran pattern. ;-)

Hi there,

Thanks for the detective work. I'm not seeing the link for the online instructions. Is there something I'm missing in the message?

I don't know how accomplished I am; I've done a few sweaters, and I'm just not very scared of cables. I think they're fun, and I love the counting part of these patterns. Thanks for your help.

Well, Duh, I must have forgotten to tack that on when the phone rang. Sorry.

I cant see the picture of your dream sweater.  The first post was replaced by the second that only has a forum page but no pics.

Dear Jean

I think you will find Alice Starmore's Aran knits most helpful.  Good luck getting her wool though.  Fear Not, they do have equivalent yarns

Cheers

the same green cardigan (post #29241, reply #6 of 7)

I recently checked this book out of the library and like you, would love to get this pattern.  Did you have any luck finding it? Would you be willing to share your source?

thanks
