Hi, Jean
Got your message. The first illustration is great—could you please post #2.
I live in a small town in New Mexico with one small yarn shop (Red Heart) that is also a smoke shop. Does that indicate the level of awareness for knitting? Haven’t met any machine knitters (have only lived here since the end of August) so ravel cord might present a major hurdle. Don’t need enough for socks for a regiment. (:-) T
Thanks for helping,
CallieH

I don't know why you are not seeing the 2nd attachment, but will re-post it the correct way of viewing it (so you don't have to stand on your head to get the picture-- LOL)
Oh Phoooey, I'll get this right yet. I have to change the attachment to a jpeg from a mix. Be back in a minute..
If you are using a 4ply worsted weight yarn, a length of nylon kite string might work although you may have to seal the ends with a flame to keep it from ravelling. You would clip that off when you pull it out later. You can also purchase ravel cord on-line from Angelikas. http://www.burles.com/ravel_cord.htm

Trying again.
OK that's better.

Yeah, I got it. Thanks for the info on the waste yarn.
I am working on hats for Christmas right now plus one of those raggedy looking quilts for our newest grand-daughter so the socks are on hold until these projects are out the door.
What are you working on?
Callie
Mostly on-line. LOL. I do need to discipline myself to get down to some machine knitting. I ran into some technical problems that are now fixed so I'd better get going. I'm running out of time, but these forums are just so much fun!!
Is the raggedy quilt the flannel one with fringe? If so do you have directions?
Hi---
Yes, it is flannel squares done in a four square block with an alternate block sewn with 1" seams. Yes, I do have the pattern. I could make a copy of it and mail it to you if you would like.
