Duplet a Ukrainian Crochet Magazine WOW!

rodezzy | Posted in Knitting and Crochet on

I stumbled upon “Duplet” which is a Ukrainian magazine and written in Russian.  And it is WOW wonderful.  I have never seen crochet designs like there’s before.  Awesome, beautiful.  I tell you if I was young again, with the knowledge I have for my crafts, I would be unstoppable.  I’m going to check it out again to see if the instruction are in English too, although it sounds like each pattern has a chart of instructions.  I want to purchase the magazines.  Has anyone in our Threads group see or heard of this magazine?  Check it out if you haven’t.  The sites below are links to it.  I also will be buying some of the yarns at the Taiga yarn site.

Holy crap.  Those pics make me actually want to learn how to crochet.  Or learn Russian, or both.

You know it drives me crazy how the American knit and crochet magazines (and patterns) seem to be afraid to do any kind of shaping on a garment, when it's the easiest thing in the world to do in these techniques.  I hate flat, non-shaped knitting.  It's not flattering to the body.

I tried your link to Duplet and got another site that shows the magazine, but no way to access it.  DH's family is from Belarus and we communicate with them on a regular basis using email. We can't read or speak Russian, but using the two links below, we can reasonably translate what they are saying. DH and DS actually went to visit them about 2 yrs. ago. I was unable to go due to work...then they fired me 2 wks. after the guys got home.  His family sent me 2 beautiful pieces of lead crystal and some exquisite embroidered linens.  DH's family is very small here in the US...only 4 people of our generation, and our son, and his 3 cousins and their children.  They were overwhelmed by the number of family members in Belarus.  It was a wonderful 10 day experience.  We hope to have a few of them come visit us in the future.

Per the translation links...You must copy and paste, then choose the 'to and from' languages. The only drawbacks are that you can only translate a certain # of words at a time, and sometimes the translation is a little off or out of context.  I've crocheted for many yrs. and really would like to see and try their patterns.

    Hope these links help.
