Hi,
I have been asked by a friend to knit her a sweater that looks like chainmail. I think a dark grey mercerised cotton in garter stitch may work but does anyone else have any ideas. There was a pattern about in the 1980s does anyone remember it?

I would think any very simple pattern with little shaping - made out of rectangles and large stitches would work well. Perhaps you could just do rectangles from simple measurements.

Thanks for your ideas. I think you're right about using big stitches and I imagine a chainmail tunic would have been pretty shapeless.
