What is the best way to block a sweater?

I made myself a blocking board out of a piece of styrofoam insulation, broadcloth and duct tape and it works just great because I can pin into it, put it againest the wall and leave my pieces to dry without taking up any space at all.  I sewed a grid on mine so I have inch markings to help me lay things out straight and even.  If I were to make one again, I would just use 1" gingham check.  I usually just steam my pieces into shape, or if it's a synthetic blend, I usually just lightly mist it after I have it pinned to size and shape.
