Will basic singer sew this? (post #38873)

I need to make covers for my outdoor chairs. My husband bought some tarp.Can I sew with this on a basic singer.. "Inspiration 4220"?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Use a new needle appropriate for canvas and test sew with scraps of the same canvas.  Check the Sailrite site for tutorials.

On second thought, I would cut pieces long enough to cover the chairs and put bungee cords around them.    Get a pair of wallpaper shears from a home improvement store and don't use your good sewing scissors.
