ready to wear pants

sewcrazed | Posted in General Sewing Info on

All of the ready to wear pants that are my favorite have waistbands where the fabric on the inside next to my body is different than the fashion fabric.  Is this to eliminate bulk?  If so, what fabric should I use?  Also, the hook and eyes on ready to wear pants are much nicer than any I can find at my local fabric stores.  Does anyone know where to get them?

A pair of Armani Collezoni pants I saw had a waistband facing made of wide petersham ribbon. The hook and eye you are talking about are sewless, and you can probably get them from http://www.greenberg-hammer.com You need to put them in before you sew the waistband together. The wide petersham can be found at http://www.judithm.com
