lining sleeve with vent

jaeng | Posted in General Sewing Info on

Does anybody know of where I can find information on lining sleeve with classic vent. I have Easy Guide to Sewing Linings(and also jacket) but was unable to follow the instructions…

Thanks.

This has definitely been dealt with in Threads more than once over the years. I would check their index.

Thank you solosmocker, I don't have every issues.
I found one (Thread no. 97 page 56)
but the end of sleeves are closed not
open all the way like the one I like.

The proper way to sew the sleeve lining to the jacket is illustrated in Connie Long's lining book. With a vent, you do it exactly the same way as without, only you have to begin sewing at each side of the vent and do it in two stages. If you can't get all the way in, leave a bit open and attach that lining with a few hand stitches after turning and pressing.I do hope you aren't trying to emulate the type of lining in the green jacket photo. It looks sloppy and unprofessional, IMO.

          Thank you so much, FitnessNut.
          I have done it.

I just lined a jacket with a sleeve vent and I used Cecelia Podolaks book on jackets. I used the bag a jacket info and when I did the sleeves I sewed as far as I could by machine and then just sewed the rest by hand. You just go across the sleeve as if the vent wasn't there, you don't see it after all. The bottom forms an ease pleat.

By the way, this is ####must have book if you are making jackets, particulary if you sew BWOF which I do, as their instructions are pretty useless.

      Hi Nancy,
Thank you so much for info.
I finally use the kick pleat on skirt for guideline.
I really want the slits open all the way down. I just
want to practice, that why I did the hard way. And
when I found that many books don't have the info. on
      this method, I went crazy.

It is not done like a kick pleat because it doesn't open

Oh, I like it opens like the photos that I enclosed.
