Cover Hem - Elna 945: How to start and stop "gracefully"

AL_Larson's picture

I am hemming stretch knit pants - most stretchy being slinky knit material.  I am using my Elna 945 wide cover hem stitch with a 1.5 differential feed adjustment.  I am not sure how to start this stitch without it curving at the very beginning.  Once I get going, it straightens out and sews great.  Also, once I reach the end, not sure how to get the material out from under the presser foot without it feeling like I'm almost breaking the thread.  Will keep experimenting, but if someone has some thoughts on how to do this, would appreciate the feedback.  Thank you.  AL

AL check out this website: http://stitchesandseams.blogspot.com/2001/01/coverstitch-all-stuff.html  This is one of the most comprehensive information about a coverstitch on the Internet, thanks to Debbie Cook.
