Hello everyone!
Need an opinion about redoing an outfit.
Iam changing a tube top camisole in to a blouse with kimono sleeves.
Should I take the elastic out of the top of the tube top and fit the top and add the sleeves — or leave the elastic in and add the sleeves?
Ok ladies let me know your thoughts.
Thanks in advance!

I think I would just add sleeves. Taking out the elastic doesn't sound fun to me.Marcy
Hi,
Thanks!
it would help to know your reason for converting it. do you just want a change, or are you wanting to hide figure flaws?
if you're happy with your torso, just add sleeves. if not, you probably won't be likely to wear it unless the elastic is out, but then, why bother? just start from scratch, or make a kimono style jacket to wear open over the tube top.
I agree with msm's suggestions, but I've also seen some fairly great results from similar modifications--mainly for summer tops, and usually with sheer fabrics for the sleeves. One option is to use rectangles for the sleeves and just attach them to the top of the cami front and back, leaving the sleeve open to drape like a scarf over the shoulders and upper arms. The more traditional Japanese kimono sleeve is actually a rectangular bag with both side seams open at the top. On a real kimono, this is attached to the main garment at the shoulder and partway down the armhole front and back. The arm goes through the top of the "bag" through the side seam openings. On a cami, you can use the same sleeve but attach it to the cami at the underarm. Oh, this is so hard to describe, but so simple to show! Try it with a miniature made out of paper towels, and you'll get a better idea....
that's the kind of sleeves i was picturing too, and i would run elastic along the top of the sleeve as well to keep them from constantly slipping off. i was mainly puzzled as to why someone would go to the trouble of deconstructing a tube top if what they are really after is a fitted blouse with sleeves, which is how i understood the original post
Thanks for everyone's opinions.
Closing out the discussion.
