Hello Fellow Fabric Artist,
I will be venturing into unknown sewing by attempting my first swimwear/slinky/2 way stretch fabric dress project. I purchase the stretch needle but somehow the stitch is not correct. My Janome machine have the stretch stitch but no luck. Also can the serger have a stretch needle?
This will be my Christmas dress for church and dinners.

Most sergers do not need to have stretch needles installed, as the design of the mechanism controls most fabric problems, but--yes, they can have different needles installed. Check your dealer or the manual.
Use your differential feed feature on your serger when you deal with stretchy knits, and there are elastic attachment feet for sergers that control the amount of stretch in the elastic while you insert it.

Thanks for your reply. Finally the stitch works. My only problem now is putting the pieces together as this is a wrap dress and there are 6 pieces. I customize the pattern to make the dress more of my taste and fit. Hopefully, once the kids are in bed tonight I will venture down to my sewing studio and put the paper pattern pieces together.

I only have to keep my kitties out of my sewing! Pattern tissue is a great attraction to cats, and if you want a cat to sit somewhere, just lay down some nice, fuzzy fabric there. Works even better if you put the fabric in a box lid that you are sure is too small for the cat to curl up in. They'll make you a liar!
