searching for plans for a cutting table

ladysmith's picture

I'm a sewing teacher and am lucky to have a wonderful cutting table at home.  A few students have asked if I know how to locate plans to build a folding cutting table that opens to 34" by 60" and folds down to a 12" wide table when not in use.  Can anyone help me locate plans?

Drop-leaf table plans:

If all your students want is something that will store away easily, this is a nice ready-made version that can be rolled into a closet. My husband's a carpenter and I don't think you can make it for the $99 price tag:

Hope this helps!

Annie,

Thank you so much!  This is exactly what I was looking for!

My pattern design partner has a table like this--perfect for her tiny bungalow with limited space. I'm thinking that a couple of them would be handy for me to have her at the house when I have quilting retreats here.

If they're looking for something quick and simple, I saw an idea where they used the folding banquet tables and raised it by using 1 1/4" PVC pipe cut in 12" lengths. They just slipped the PVC tubes to the table legs and added little furniture protectors at the bottom. This raised the table from 28" to 36" and the banquet table comes in different sizes and price points.

I use the banquet tables, but I have plenty of room.

I think the original post was for a table that would easily fold away, such as the one at the Allbrands site.

I thought I saw this same table at a Jo-Ann Fabric store.  If so (and there is a store in your area) there is always a discount coupon available each month.
