Looking for a pattern

Rosanda | Posted in General Discussion on

Please help.  I saw a dress in the Threads magazine Oct/Nov 2000 on pages 40, 41 by Isabel Toledo.  I think its the dress called “Cornflower” with the drop waist and pattern is cut in circles.  Can someone help me find this pattern or something close to it?  Your help is greatly appreciated.  Hope to hear from someone soon.

Thank you

Rosanda

    Rosanda,

Thanks so much for reminding me of this wonderful article and the intriguing garments shown in it. I don't think there's a commercial pattern available for any of the dresses, alas, but you could probably devise one by adapting a basic tank dress, and following the little sketches shown with the dresses. These are wonderful designs, and I'm very tempted to create my own version, too! I'm not sure how these would look on my figure, though, which differs significantly from that mannequin--I'm a little worried about being very wide in the middle and narrow at the top and bottom.

When you finish your dress, please let us know how it came out--we'd love to see a photo!

there is a good photo about 3/4 of the way down this page. I don't know of a pattern, but you may get an idea of how you can drape it yourself. Good Luck!

And a good photo of the 2nd version of the cornflower dress is here:
